Canadian Solar subsidiary brings 100 MW California solar plant online

Site in central part of West Coast state will power about 45,000 homes
GUELPH, Ont.—Renewable developer Recurrent Energy has reached commercial operation on a new solar project in central California.
The subsidiary of Guelph, Ont.-based Canadian Solar Inc. announced Aug. 23 the 100 megawatt Mustang solar power project in Kings County, Calif. is now fully-online and feeding power into the grid under a pair of long-term power contracts.
“The commercial operation of the Mustang solar project continues a historic year that will see Recurrent Energy complete more than one gigawatt of U.S. solar photovoltaic (PV) projects,” Shawn Qu, chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar, said.
Located outside Fresno, Calif., between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the plant is expected to power approximately 45,000 homes.
Work on the project began last year and employed 450 at peak construction.
