Utilities, Finance and insurance, and Management of companies and enterprises were found to be the safest industries in Canada. Management of companies and enterprises saw just 4 lost time claims in 2022.

Commenting on the study, a spokesperson for Preszler Injury Lawyers said: “Our research shows that the manufacturing industry is the second most dangerous industry for Canadians to work in. The number of lost time claims is high at 35,781. In first and third place are the Health care and social assistance, and Construction industries, which also see a high number of claims each year.

“We hope this research will encourage employers in the Manufacturing industry to ensure the correct safety measures are in place for their employees in Canada. This will not only benefit the employees in these industries, but it will also prevent further loss of revenue to the company where employees are off work through injury.

“There are certain professions that tend to hold higher risks due to the nature of those roles, but it is crucial for both employers and employees to follow procedures and consider the safety of the working environment.”
