Acquisition to bolster company's Alberta design practice
EDMONTON—Canadian engineering and construction company Stantec Inc. has signed a letter of intent to buy Edmonton-based design studio Architecture Tkalcic Bengert.
With expertise in urban planning and technical consulting, Arch/TB has designed a number of community, sport and commercial buildings in Alberta, including the prominent curved design on Edmonton’s new Rogers Place Arena. It employs about 60 people in the Alberta capital.
“Arch/TB is a well-diversified practice that will play a significant role in enhancing and supporting our buildings practice throughout our Canada Prairies and Territories geography,” Bob Gomes, Stantec’s president and CEO, said. “The addition of Arch/TB’s design experts more than doubles the number of local architectural staff in Edmonton, creating a diverse center of design excellence.”
Stantec did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition.
